The “Aula 5G” project of DigitalES (Spanish Association for Digitalization) represents a paradigmatic and successful example of modernization of vocational training spaces.

Beyond the physical equipment of the classroom, this is an end-to-end training project of DigitalES, in which DigitalES has participated designing and structuring:

1) professional qualification;

2) the content of the course;

3) the technologies that students should be able to touch and manipulate in the classroom.

The “5G Classroom” is located in the National Reference Center for Information Technology Development and Communications (dependent on the Community of Madrid, through the Directorate General of Training of the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Finance), in the town of Getafe, which offers training for the unemployed with a capacity for about 700 students per year.

In the last two years, this infrastructure has been used for the training of 68 teachers, both from the Community of Madrid and from other Spanish Autonomous Communities. During the 2022-2023 academic year, a batch of 6 courses for unemployed people residing in the Community of Madrid is planned.

Calvo-Sotelo took part in a round table discussion on the challenges of digital transformation together with Elena Díaz – Alejo Rodríguez, Public Affairs & Corporate Communications of Samsung; Francisco Hortigüela, general director of Ametic; moderated by Carla Redondo, general secretary of INCIBE. A round table that provided reflections on how to overcome people’s natural resistance to change, which psychiatrist and writer Elisabeth Kübler Ross postulates as follows:

Cybersecurity in SMEs

One of the major themes of the session was the importance of carrying out a digital transformation process with cybersecurity. Undertaking a robust and seamless digital transformation necessarily implies having an accompanying cybersecurity strategy.

Therefore, from DigitalES we propose that, in order to bring cybersecurity to the transformation of the industry, it is important to assimilate it as a crucial element of competitiveness. To involve SMEs in this process, it will be necessary to find ways to involve them in the digital transformation process with sufficient guarantees.

In the legislative sphere, the public sector can promote the measures that the different agents in our country must comply with in order to promote security, taking into account the experience and development already carried out by the private sector.

The event included the presentation of the Impulse Awards for Innovation in Sustainable Mobility, which are presided over by H.M. The King of Spain and whose jury president was, also for the second consecutive year, Eduardo Serra, president of DigitalES.

Aporta Challenge

A few hours earlier, our CEO Víctor Calvo-Sotelo attended, as a member of the Desafío Aporta jury, the evaluation session of the 10 finalists. Throughout the morning, each of the finalists presented their prototype for a maximum of 12 minutes.

Since 2017, the Aporta Award recognizes experiences that have been put into operation making use of public open data generated by Public Administrations that can also be combined with data generated by private entities. The objective is to encourage the reuse of public open data sets in the search for innovative, high-impact and useful solutions for the public or private sector.

Yesterday, on the occasion of the inauguration of senior officials of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, we collected this snapshot of five of the people who have held the position of Secretary of State for Telecommunications in Spain: from left to right, Roberto Sánchez, Francisco Ros, María González Veracruz, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo (currently CEO of DigitalES) and Juan Junquera.

It was an emotional meeting, in which everyone wished luck to the newly appointed Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, María González Veracruz.

During the meeting, we shared with her the progress recently made by the association in the areas of Coordination of Business Activities (C.A.E.) and construction work.

C.A.E.

The Work Line of Prevention of Occupational Risks of DigitalES has developed a web space that brings together the most relevant C.A.E. (Coordination of Business Activities) information for the ‘telco’ sector.

At DigitalES, we are working to standardize a C.A.E. procedure that will help us to improve administrative and documentary management, and to obtain a single sector vision towards contractors and clients.

The purpose of the new page is to inform about the compliance of the C.A.E. duty that, in terms of Occupational Risk Prevention, is established in Art. 24 of the Law, developed in R.D. 171/2004, as well as R.D. 1627/1997 for construction site tasks, by which we must govern the exchange of prevention information.

Construction work

Ance the doubts raised by the implementation of the R.D. 1627/1997, of October 24, 1997, which establishes minimum safety and health provisions for construction works.In the work we promote, we have published a small guide to clarify which actions would fall within and outside the scope of this standard.

In this context, DigitalES has organized this morning a training session on both regulations, by Deloitte Legal, exclusively for its associates. The conference included a very detailed presentation of the content of these rules, which will undoubtedly help to tackle the regulatory asymmetry that exists between telecommunications operators and large technology platforms. Not surprisingly, the level playing field, as a lever for competitiveness, is one of the main values pursued by the DigitalES association.
